Introducing and managing change can be tricky, particularly when it comes to engaging teams with change. We鈥檝e rounded up some resources that can help you and your team to prepare and build confidence for change.

Leading Change Improving Care

Leading Change Improving Care is a new leadership development programme for social care managers being delivered by 原味视频 endorsed providers.

This new programme is specifically focused around managing change and is a great learning opportunity for social care leaders to find out more about the essentials around leading, managing, and building resilience for change.

The programme is delivered through five interactive modules which focus on:

  • leading and managing the process of change within your team and organisation
  • facilitating change sensitively and building resilience for change
  • successful leadership skills and behaviours
  • managing hard-to-reach colleagues and those resistant to change to improve the performance of teams
  • coaching and development
  • improving personal effectiveness and time management.

Registered managers’ support

We have a range of dedicated support for registered managers and front-line managers which includes providing guidance and support for managing change, as well as peer support.

Our registered manager membership offer provides access to exclusive resources and a monthly newsletter packed with information and updates. Our local networks, Facebook, and WhatsApp groups offer an opportunity to connect with and learn from other registered managers about their experiences managing change.

We also have a range of which cover topics to support managers with change including effective supervision, keeping your team motivated, effective delegation, empowering your staff, and driving improvements in difficult times.

Effective supervision guide

Communication is key when it comes to effectively introducing change and making your team feel confident about changes being made.

Supervisions allow a formal opportunity to check in with each team member and to address any issues and celebrate achievements. This provides a time to proactively identify where there may be issues around changes being introduced, where additional support may be required to ensure your team member feels confident and suitably skilled to take on change, and to positively assure your staff about the skills and knowledge they have that show they’re capable of adapting this new change.

Our guide will help you to plan and deliver effective supervisions to help you manage changes in your organisation.

Essential training

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, three funded packages of learning were created to help social care managers and teams to adapt to the changing ways of working.

This includes rapid induction training which is for new workers to ensure they’re up-to-speed with essential elements of providing care such as health and safety awareness, infection prevention and control, and moving and handling; refresher training which is for existing staff who have training expiring soon and need to urgently update this training so that they can continue to work safely, and a volunteer programme for people volunteering in social care.

This essential training can ensure your staff are up-to-date with their core skills and knowledge as we continue to change and adapt to the ongoing impact of the pandemic.

Endorsed training providers

One reason that staff may be hesitant to embrace change is if they don’t feel they have the necessary skills and knowledge to take on the change being proposed. This may be working with new technology, working in a more specialised area, or changing how everyday tasks are carried out.

To ensure your staff feel confident about change you should provide the necessary learning and development to make sure they can effectively and enthusiastically take on the new ways of working that are being proposed.

原味视频 has a directory of endorsed providers offering training across a wide range of subject areas, which meet a high-quality standard.

The care exchange

原味视频’s podcast ‘The care exchange’ can help you and your team to feel more confident and prepared for change by hearing other social care leaders discussing real life examples of how they manage things in their organisation.

The entire first series of the podcast is available to listen to on our website and covers all manner of topics from making improvements during the pandemic, to how to make the right decision rather the easy decision, and how to create a positive workplace culture.

Building resilience guidance

Resilience is the ability to cope under pressure and recover from difficulties. Being resilient can help people to be able to positively embrace change rather than fear it.

We’ve developed a range of resources to support social care managers and their teams to build resilience, from sharing tips and tricks that can help to develop resilience to sharing real life examples of how other organisations are helping their team to build resilience.

Supporting your team’s wellbeing while introducing change is important as a leader and helping to build resilience is one way to do this. You can also find more wellbeing resources to support your team during periods of change via our .

With many changes set to take place across the whole sector this year, we hope these resources will help social care leaders and their teams to feel confident, knowledgeable, and supported to embrace change.
