We use this #GoodNewsFriday to celebrate some of the leading nurses from our sector.

The recognise individuals who go above and beyond their everyday roles to provide excellent care, leadership and inspiration. Recipients of this award are also invited to become social care ambassadors, a role that focuses on raising the profile of nursing in social care, both publicly and within the profession, to inspire future generations.

The Social Care Nursing Advisory Councils (SCNACs) hosted their inaugural event on September 12 at Coventry University’s London campus, where these awards were presented.

Five individuals were honoured to receive Chief Nurse Awards from Deborah Sturdy, recognising their outstanding contributions to the sector - Mirko Rodolfo, Lucy Gilliespie, Clemence Muchingaguyo, Preeti Hamal and Louise Keane.

原味视频’s very own Lucy Gilliespie, our national professional lead, was honoured to receive her gold award for her exceptional contributions to nursing and social care.

Joanne Bosanquet MBE RN FRCN FQNI, CEO of The Foundation of Nursing Studies, said of Lucy’s award:

On behalf of the Foundation of Nursing Studies, I am delighted to congratulate Lucy on her award. Lucy鈥檚 passion and commitment in her national leadership role is infectious and vital as she advocates for nursing leadership in social care.

Louise Keane, a Queen’s Nurse and Co-Chair for the London Social Care Nursing Advisory Councils, stated her delight at winning her award:

I was humbled and delighted to receive the ASC Chief Nurse Award in recognition of my work in adult social care. I have worked in many settings across the NHS system, but none have brought me the happiness and fulfilment that working in adult social care does every day. I have been very lucky in my career to have had nursing role models who inspired me. I hope in some way I鈥檓 also inspiring the next generation of nurses, who will thrive in adult social care, as they often do not get the recognition they deserve.

Mirko Ridolfo, Clinical and Operations Manager at Majesticare, commented on receiving his award:

Receiving this award is a profound honour, as it symbolises my commitment to making a difference in social care. I am driven by a desire to give back to the elderly and vulnerable, ensuring they receive the care they deserve. Social care is a powerful force that can change lives, not just for the individuals who rely on it, but also for those who work within it. It is a space of connection, compassion, and growth, yet sometimes it remains overshadowed by stigma and prejudice. My hope is to help elevate social care to its rightful place, where it is celebrated for its profound impact on society. It's time we recognise its true value and give it the credit it so rightly deserves.

Lucy, Louise, Mirko, Clemence and Preeti embody the very best in social care nursing. Their work not only elevates the quality of care but also inspires future generations to see social care as a career of choice, full of potential for personal and professional growth.

Congratulations to all the winners for their well-deserved honours!
